Bismuth layer structure
WebWe report on the production of 200 and 600 nm thick Bi films on mica substrate with 10 nm thick Sb sublayer between Bi and mica. Two types of films have been studied: block and single crystal. Films were obtained using the thermal evaporation WebBismuth is a brittle metal with a silvery white color. Its density is 9.7 g/cm 3, its melting point is 271°C, and the boiling point is 1564°C. Bismuth has a number of properties that are decisive for its various applications. It has a low toxicity for humans, and therefore is also called “green bismuth”.

WebThe structure of a bismuth crystal is just so wild and the beautiful color that happens when it oxidizes is captivating. When metal oxidizes, it means that its outer layer has changed because of its exposure to the oxygen in the air around us. When iron oxidizes, it gets a red-orange colored layer we call rust. WebBismuth titanate niobate with mixed-layer structure Bi/sub 7/Ti/sub 4/NbO/sub 21/ is a ferroelectric, probable Curie point 870/sup 0/C. The ceramic Bi/sub 7/Ti/sub 4/NbO/sub 21/ has a high piezoelectric modulus. We examined the electrophysical parameters on polycrystalline specimens made by the usual ceramic technology.
